Top 10 Emmy ’17 Looks

10. Vanessa Kirby in Marchesa: I love how ethereal and elegant this whole look came together. What really gets me is that bold lip that is a perfect ode to that matching sangria colour in the flowers.

9. Julianne Hough in Marchesa: Black was a hugeeee colour on this year’s red carpet. TBH, I’m personally not a big fan of wearing black unless it’s a gala in the winter, a good pant suit or a funeral, but this works! The lightness of the fabric and the delicate pastel flowers makes this look seem so effortless tying it into the equally natural hair and makeup makes for a very well thought out ensemble

8. Madeline Brewer: This icy colour on her pale skin tone, mixed in with the auburn hair and crimson lip is simply divine. I love the eccentricity in the shoulders and the appliqués in the neckline that drifts off going into the hemline paired with the stunning silhouette makes for just a killer put-together look.

7. Angela Sarafryan: Besides the statement sleeves, there’s nothing REALLY that special about this dress but the whole look together blows me away. Her glowing skin to her beautiful caramel hair to her bronze makeup… who needs dramatic jewelry – this look was just so easy, refreshing and breathtaking.

Angela Sarafyan

6. Reese Witherspoon in custom Stella McCartney: I mean it’s Reese Witherspoon so right off the bat she can do no wrong but this azure suit jacket dress paired with the pop of red/orange is INCREDIBLE!! This dress accentuates her waist like a dream and the length of it is perfect, the ring and earrings and the velvet similar coloured Louboutin’s -it’s the simple elegance yet sexiness that makes her a true vision.

5. Shailene Woodley in Ralph Lauren: I LOVE EMERALD GREEN, so this was an automatic front-runner for me. I’m not mad at the fact that its such a rich velvet because it’s balanced by the delicate straps and beautiful plunging neckline. She styles her hair effortlessly out of her face with a smoky eye that ties her whole look together with her mesmerizing green eyes.

4. Gina Rodriguez in Naeem Khan: I think you’re starting to see a pattern at this point… I’m a sucker for simple elegance and Gina Rodriguez definitely does not disappoint. This beautiful red beaded number joined to that deep V and the classic hair and makeup with the drop earrings are to die for!

3. Yara Shahidi in Prada: OK, can we talk about the fact that she’s only 17 years old!?!? This dress looks like a second skin on her and the whole ensemble from the dress to the accessories to the hair and makeup look so mature yet age-appropriate. The embellishment on the nude bodice that flow into the skirt just hit the nail on the head for miss Shahidi!

2. Ellie Kemper in Jenny Packman: Clearly, I also have a sweet spot for appliqués and beading and this a WINNER in my book! From the perfect blue short and strapless dress to the dramatic ombre embellishment on the overlay to the higher collar, the cap sleeves, the up-do, the stunning statement earrings and the bang-on makeup… simply put – she killed it!

1. Erin Lim in Raisa & Vanessa 😍😍😍: First of all, mad girl crush alert, second of all there’s nothing I don’t LOVE about this whole picture. Yes she does black, but it doesn’t overpower the whole look, she has that stunning red beaded overlay on that two-piece and the lace badass collar… JUST STOP!! The one braid in the up-do is so rockstar and the neutral smokey-eye is so sultry and that’s exactly what this look is for me – badass and sexy and I live for it!

Erin Lim

Thanks for tuning into another award show fashion post. It was incredibly difficult to narrow it down to 10 this time around since these women certainly did not disappoint!! Until next time!

5 Tips to Cleaning your Closet just in time for Spring!

With all the empty promises of “new year – new me” out of our systems and the fact that spring is right around the corner, what better reason to refresh our wardrobe… Out with the old to make room for oh-so-more fashionably new! Here are some tips at how to update your closet without breaking the bank.

b-closet

Tip #1: If you haven’t used it within a year… you’re not going to!

This is my rule of thumb! Realistically, you’re not going to start wearing something it in the next 365 days that you forgot you even had. It’s taking up precious room in your closet/drawers that could be filled with much newer and season appropriate items!

Tip #2: Donate it!

Let’s be honest… often times I hesitate getting rid of some articles of clothing because i feel like i haven’t gotten enough wear out of them so it makes me want hold onto it a bit longer to try and get all the mileage I can out of it, but just think… it can go to someone who will really need or appreciate it!

Tip #3: Like you would proofread an essay… take a second look at what you’re keeping & giving away.

This can allow you some time to think it through. Am I keeping this because I like it, or am I keeping it for sentimental value that’s going to take up space? Honestly, we’re all guilty of holding on to stuff, but keep it minimal, maybe in a (small) box and tuck it away in a corner of your closet.

Tip #4: Once you’ve made the decision… commit!

I put all my donations in black garbage bags: out of sight, out of mind. I separate them by item so: clothes, shoes, purses & coats. That way you can bring them to the appropriate place, which will in turn ensure that the items are going to be separated properly and not be thrown in the trash.

Finally, tip #5: Purging is addictive!

I always start with my closet, but something about having so much more space feels extremely liberating and addictive, and like an addict you just want more. This usually leads to me then moving on to my drawers, then my skincare, nail polish and even makeup.

I like making it a habit to do this at least twice a year, usually in the spring and the fall (conveniently my favorite fashion seasons) and it just makes me feel more refreshed and confident when it comes to putting together my #ootds! I hope these tips help you give a little facelift to your fashion and let me know what your favorite thing about spring fashion!

Oscars 2017 Fashion Highlight

As you may already know, considering social media has probably already bombarded you, last night was the 89th Academy Awards, and let me say… the fashion did NOT disappoint.  So if you’re still a little hungover by the frenzy of any potential viewing parties last night, have no fear (or #fomo) I’m here to outline the crème de la crème of Oscar fashion.

Before I get to the anticipated best dressed, let’s talk about the Top 3 fashion statements that I noticed while watching all the celebrities walk the red carpet:

1. Belts

Yes, you read that right! The fashion accessory that added the most elegant je ne sais quoi to amplify an otherwise elegant look to give it that edge! So here are the celebrities that highlighted just that.

2. Side Parted Old-Hollywood Hair

This choice of hairstyle was matched perfectly with these ladies respected outfit choices. The ensemble of the look was put together so beautifully and elegant, all while classically pairing it with a beautiful red lip.

3. Funnel Necklines

It was projected that one-shoulder dresses were going to be big this Oscar season, but just like that, in swoops the funnel neck in the most S-T-U-N-N-I-N-G way! It was so refreshing to see this different take on “sexy” but these ladies NAILED it and happen to be some of my favorite looks of the night!

Now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for (*drumroll*)… my 3 best dressed of the night:

I’m always a fan of the more under the radar designers, and if I had some fancy-shmancy event to attend to this year (highly unlikely), my go-to designer would most definitely be Ralph & Russo. As I had previously mentioned, this Oscar year has been my personal favorite and even the so-called “worst-dressed” lists were still stunning to look at, but these 3 celebrities were my absolute favorite and they were just BREATHTAKING!
