The Not-So Newlywed Game!

So today, April 18th 2017 is my Husband Sean and I’s 2 year wedding anniversary. We decided to have a little fun and play the infamous “Not-So Newlywed Game”. We got inspired to play based on Shawn Johnson & her Husband Andrew East’s anniversary YouTube video and we decided to give it a go. So Saturday we took part of the afternoon, set up the camera and had a little fun with some of the questions they had asked each other as well as some othersI had picked from the good ol’ www. So take a look at our funny little rendition of the “Not-So Newlywed Game” – Anniversary edition:

“Will you marry me?”

So I would not be in this incredible stage of my life without that one pivotal night of September 28, 2013. But wait for it, because it’s truly legen…

After Sean and I`s first date, I knew that I wanted to spend my life married to this man, my best friend. Luckily he was on the same page as I was. As crazy as it sounds, 3 months into the relationship we were both talking about how we wanted to get married, own a house have a family and grow old together.

When August 2013 rolled around, I started getting antsy to be honest. So when I went down to Toronto to visit my family for Labor Day weekend without Sean, I had a sneaky suspicion that he was going to find my ring. So since I had gotten home from the long weekend away, I made sure that my nails were always well manicured and painted (*hint hint). After that, every time he would take me out, I would be holding my breath, hoping that that night would be “the night”. So when 25th of September came around, and Sean wanted to take me to Juliette & Chocolat on an inconspicuous Wednesday night, I was nervous but ultimately I was soooooo ready! To my shock, Sean and my parents set up a plan to surprise me with a new car… not quite what I expected but nevertheless still an awesome surprise. After that night, I stopped expecting the proposal and just went back to simply enjoying our date nights.

So when that Saturday night came along and we had gone to a fundraiser at some bar, I was dressed in jeans and a plaid shirt… I definitely was NOT expecting anything for once. So when I was peeling off my dingy black nail polish and Sean asked me if I wanted to go to Mount Royal because it was such a nice night (which it was), I still wasn’t suspicious to anything. I figured he wouldn’t ask me to marry him looking like this. So off we went, a little drive up to the mountain. When he parked, he went to grab his jacket in the trunk… and still I was clueless. So we walk up and there must have been a field trip or something because there were SO MANY PEOPLE at the lookout!! It was only when I wrapped my arms around him and tried to get into a comfortable stance with my arms around his hips that I noticed his resistance in me doing so. A light bulb finally lit up in my brain that “HOLY CRAP… THIS MIGHT ACTUALLY BE IT”, followed by “CRAP…crap I am so not dressed for this.” So when he told me it was starting to get chilly and that we should go home, I’m not going to lie… I was disappointed!

On the drive back home, I was hiding my feelings, so it was only when he took an unexpected turn towards the same park that went ended up on our first date that I looked at him and was instantly overwhelmed by happiness. At that point, I knew! So when he parked the car and started his speech, I started to cry. He came around to open the door for me and barely had the chance to get down on one knee and ask me to marry him when I picked him up and started shouting “YES!“. I was so over the moon happy and it was the most incredible moment of my life to this day!

And that my friends, is the start of our story as Mr. and Mrs and to me, it is truly… dary, legendary!

Kids… this is the story of How I Met Your Father

When Sean and I first met, it truly was “in a hopeless place”, it was a Tuesday night at Winnie’s (a bar with a dance floor that has a cheap drink menu on Tuesday nights and fairly good music). One night, I was finishing work late, his friend invited me out with them and seeing as my friend was unavailable, I decided to go by myself… best decision I had ever made! The 3 of us were discussing what characteristics we looked for in a guy/girl, and I was clearly describing him, and me (being as clueless as I am) wasn’t understanding that he was also, in turn, describing me. So after that night, and going to McDonald’s until 3 or 4am, I ADDED HIM on facebook and started a conversation with him through messenger. After some back and forth and realizing pretty much right away that I really REALLY liked this guy, he actually (finally) asked for my number!

So after non-stop texting for a couple of days, he asked me out on a date. He came to pick me up and we did the classic dinner and a movie but we did it the other way around movie (Looper) and then dinner (Les 3 Brasseurs)… which I recommend for everyone who decides to go with that date option. It was exactly what I wanted and what I needed… it broke the ice! Sean and I were both waving our hands on the armrest signaling that we both wanted to hold each other’s hand. After the movie, going to the the restaurant afterwards allowed us to discuss the movie which made for a smooth transition into conversations about our families, values and more really interesting topics.

After leaving and he was driving me home, we both didn’t want the night to end, I told him to take a turn and we drove to the park right in front the water and talked for hours where he kissed me for the very first time… and right then I knew! The night ended and he drove me home, kissed me goodnight and texted me when he got home.

That weekend, we were both going to Toronto and texted pretty much every waking minute. He was there for a wedding and I was there for Thanksgiving with my family, and on the ride home, ironically we were driving side by side the whole way home.

When we both got home, I didn’t even want to unpack, I went straight to my room and we spoke for hours on end, and right before midnight he asked me to be his girlfriend and the rest kids… is history!
